In an interaction with reporters at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) on Wednesday, Foreign Minister Mahara said that Nepal was for maintaining a balanced relations with India and China. Though our nation is small but our location is important, so we heed the sensitivity of the nation and accordingly conduct the foreign policy, he said.
“A lot of ours friendly nations love us and we have earned sympathy too. Our position is not controversial one, so we can take advantage out of these sympathies offered to us.”
Mahara is set to visit China soon.
“We want fair and balanced relations with both China and India and want to ensure both our neighbours that our soil will not be used against any neighbours,” he said.
Mahara, who is holding the foreign ministry portfolio for the first time said he was aware of the challenges of his job and he was determined to overcome them and bring positive changes through various initiatives that he has planned.
“I have limited time to deliver but I must deliver. I will soon make public my priorities soon,” he said.
