While Rasila beat Kherlen Darkhanbaatar of Mongolia 21-11, 21-14, Jessica Gurung lost to Ching Chi Wong of Hong Kong 21-13, 21-12 and Sunayan Mukhiya was beaten 21-13, 21-11 by isha Zhumbaek of Kazakhsthan in the girls’ singles first round. Rasila will play Thet Htar Thuzar of Myanmar in the second round on Thursday.
Praful Maharjan lost to Fauzi Fathurrahman of Indonesia 21-11, 21-16, Rukesh Maharjan went down to Hendahewa Rasindu 21-13, 21-15 and Pabin Kumar Lingthen succumbed to another Sri Lankan player Sasindu Ranthuska 21-8, 21-15 in the second round after the Nepali trio had won its first round games, also on Wednesday.
In the first round, Praful had beaten Dyna Saom of Cambodia 21-11, 21-8, Rukesh saw off Mongolian Batsukh Mendbayar 21-8, 21-7 and Lingthen had overcome Zulqarnain Haidar of Pakistan 15-21, 21-17, 21-17. In the mixed doubles, Praful and Rasila lost to Indonesian duo of Renaldi Samosir and Hediana Julimarbela 21-11, 21-10 with Lingthen and Mukhiya losing to Quang Dinh Tran and Ngoc Bich Pham of Vietnam 21-13, 21-11.
In the boys’ doubles, Praful and Rukesh lost to Yau Wai Chan and Pak Ngai Mak of Hong Kong 21-12, 21-15. Gurung and Rasila lost the girls’ doubles to Sze Lok Leung and Hiu Ching Wong of Hong Kong 21-5, 21-10. The Championships runs until July 30.
