Jul 28, 2017-
Minister for Information and Communications Mohan Bahadur Basnet has said the construction of a bailey bridge over Bhotekoshi River at Larcha in the district within a week. The bridge linking Tatopani with the Capital was destroyed by a massive landslide on Sunday night.
After inspecting the collapsed bridge on Thursday, Minister Basnet said the bridge would be constructed in coordination with the Chinese counterparts. “All parties will join forces to open the Tatopani border point after the construction of the bridge,” Basnet said, while directing the concerned authorities to build a makeshift bridge soon.
The local administration said that a makeshift wooden bridge was being built after opening a new track in Larcha. The minister also asked the authorities to extend all possible support to the affected locals.
Officiating Chief District Officer Antar Bahadur Silwal said that an arrangement of twine-crossing had been made along with the makeshift bridge as it would take around two months to construct a bailey bridge.
Police Inspector Guru Prasad Timilsina said that Tatopani area had been under darkness for the past five days after the flood waters washed away power supply poles and wires. Similarly, the communication service has also been disrupted.
Locals said their movement was restricted due to landslides triggered by incessant rainfall in different places along the Bahrabise-Tatopani road section.
