Birsiyeka Satya, an autobiographical novel written by Numesh Gharti Magar, was launched amid a function in Dang, on Friday. The book chronicles the struggles of author Numesh while he was working as a labourer in India.
Born in a rural village of Bangalachuli in Dang, Numesh, 32, worked in India for 13 years. “I used to work a 12-hour shift at a hotel, after which I would write until midnight,” Numesh said, speaking at the function. “Even when I was in Delhi, I would vicariously be roaming around my native village with my characters.”
Numesh said that even though his dream to publish a book has come true, he still has to go to India for work. “I need to go to Delhi again to make a living,” Numesh said. “But I won’t stop writing. I aim to publish a better book.”
Birsiyeka Satya is published by Sangrila Books.
Speaking at the event, Akshyar Kaka, an editor at Sangrila Books, said, “Even though Numesh has only a nominal academic qualification, his output is really impressive. It’s a literary work of a very high calibre.”
