Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said the government will control violent activities launched against the elections.
Speaking to media persons here on Sunday, PM Deuba said security would be tightened and those involved in violent activities brought to book.
After returning to the Capital, said Deuba, he would summon a meeting of the security agencies and instruct them to review the security arrangements to create a safe environment for the candidates and voters. The NC chief, who is contesting the federal parliamentary elections from his home district Dadeldhura, is busy canvassing for votes.
He said it was the duty of his government to conduct the elections peacefully on schedule. “The incidents of attack won’t affect the election timetable,” said Deuba.
Meanwhile, responding to queries related to the capital of Province 7, the PM said it would be determined by the state assembly.
Deuba, who arrived in Dadeldhura on Thursday, addressed poll rallies at Ajaymeru, Rupal and Jogbuda on Sunday. He left for Kailali later in the day.
Deuba welcomed Maoist Centre proportional representation candidate for federal parliamentary election Jagat Parki to the Congress party on Sunday.
More than a hundred Maoist leaders and cadres joined the NC along with Parki, a politburo member of the Maoist Centre.
