A total of 30 professional golfers will fight for the championship in the three-day event to be played over 54 holes. The eventual champion will receive Rs 115,000 while the second-placed pro will earn Rs 74,000 and the third-placed golfer will take home Rs 53,000. Other pros in the top 21 will also receive their share of cash prizes.
The fourth event of the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2017-18 will conclude with the amateur golfers teaming up with the pros in the Pro-Am tournament on Saturday.
Top ranked and defending champion Shivaram Shrestha, who have won two of the first three titles of the season so far, will face a tough challenge from the likes of second ranked Sanjay Lama, local pro Bal Bhadra Rai, former champion Sabin Sapkota and Dhana Thapa.
Shiva Kumar Majhi will make his debut from the tournament. In all, 30 amateur golfers will rub their shoulders with the pros. Sukra Bahadur Rai, Tanka Bahadur Karki, Yubaraj Bhujel and Niraj Tamang are top contenders for the amateur title. Rai is the defending amateur champion.
Cut will be applied after 36 holes with top 21 pros and ties as well as the top six amateurs making it to the final round. The event offers Rs 6,30,000 in total prize money.
