Police enter Super League

The other match of the day saw Central Region register a comprehensive 4-0 win over Eastern Region making the race for the Super League open for themselves and Far Western Region.
The result put Police on top of Group ‘A’ with maximum six points after two matches. Central and Far Western Region are joint second with three points each.
But Far Western hold superiority by the virtue of goals superiority in the four-team group. The winner between the Central and Far Western will join Police in Super League as only two teams progress in the next round. Eastern Region is yet to their open account after losing both their matches and crashed out of the group stage with a match in hand.
Chandra Bhandari gave a 16th minute lead to Far Western to jolt the departmental giants. Police players toiled hard and came close to equalising in the 54th minute after earning a penalty. But NPC skipper Ghim Kumari Gurung was denied by Far Western Region custodian Ghim Kumari Ghale. Niru Thapa levelled finally pulled NPC levelled by scoring in the 57th minute before Nirmala Upadhyaya netted the decider in 65th minute.
In another match, Central Region netted two goals either side of the break to beat Eastern Region 4-0. Rashmi Kumari Ghising gave Central an early sixth minute lead before Menuka Nagarkoti made it 2-0 through penalty in the 31st minute. Sabita Rana Magar scored third in the 61st minute before Ghising wrapped up comprehensive victory by added her second nine minutes from time.
Tribhuvan Army Club will vie with Mid Western Region and Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) Club will take on Western Region in Group ‘B’ matches on Wednesday.
