Kathmandu
The government has backtracked from its plan to remove the provision of the 30-year service period for Nepal Police personnel.
Commerce Minister Min Bishwokarma on Friday said the plan has been shelved, owing to divided opinions on the issue within the police force.
The Human Resources Department of Nepal Police had prepared a draft bill to amend the Nepal Police Act-2049, suggesting a change in the extant service period so that any officer would be able to keep their job past 58 years of age— the government retirement age. The proposal has reportedly created a division among the top ranking and mid-ranking officers. (PR)
