Chief Minister of Province 3 Dormani Poudel has assured the locals of Makwanpur district that the provincial capital would not be shifted from Hetauda.

Addressing the second municipal assembly meeting of the Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City on Sunday, CM Poudel said unnecessary deliberation on the capital made no sense.

“I assure you that the temporary capital will be [made] permanent. Rest assured, the capital won’t be shifted,” said Poudel, who was elected to the provincial assembly from Makwanpur constituency-1 (B).

CM Poudel claimed that Hetauda was the most suitable location for provincial capital and that it had spent a fortune on its physical infrastructure. On the demand of the people of the upper region for Kavre as the provincial capital, he said the row would be settled on the basis of constitutional provisions and processes.

“Many have demanded Kavre as the provincial headquarters. I have told them that it should be decided through constitutional provisions,”

he said.

Poudel suggested that it would take some time to formulate provincial laws and regulations. Development works would be carried out in coordination between the central, provincial and local governments.
