Blind Rocks, a film based on the life of visually-impaired activist Shristi KC, is premiering today, February 28, at Kumari Hall, in the Capital. The biopic features Benisha Hamal in the title role and is directed by Milan Chams.

The film tells the story of KC, who completely lost her sight at the age of 16, when a doctor reportedly prescribed the wrong medicine for an eye allergy she was suffering from. Shristi did not, however, let her blindness affect her life ahead. After completing her SLC Examinations, Shristi could not find any private college that would grant her an admission. She enrolled at the government-owned Padma Kanya College and defying all odds, went on to come first in both the Intermediate and Bachelor levels examinations. Eventually, KC started her own organisation that works toward uplifting the lives of people living with blindness. She is also a dance teacher and has been an inspiration for many.

From what can be sampled from the trailer, Blind Rocks will show how Shristi became blind, her initial hardships, adjustments to her new life, and the fruits she has reaped from her continuous dedication and hard work.

Director Chams has said that Shristi’s life has been so dramatic that there was no need to fictionalise any part of the story. The producers said that they hope the film will promote the idea that physical disability does not translate into inability. 

Shristi, speaking at a press meet organised last month, said that the movie has encouraged her to work harder, and requested the audience to give her feedback after watching the movie.

Blind Rocks will release nationwide on March 2.
