For the workshop, the Kathmandu Jazz Conservatory has been sending two musicians for the past four years; this year however there were seven students taking part at the event—three under scholarship, and four other to attend advanced classes.
During the workshop, the attendees were led through rigorous processes of theoretical and practical music, while they were also offered a platform to come together as a team and perform in a group.
“It’s an honour to be sending these young musicians to train in Thailand where they get a chance to learn and play with musicians from around the world. We hope that it will be a boost to Nepal’s music education and to the music scene overall,” Isu Kumar Shrestha, creative director at Kathmandu Jazz Conservatory, said.
