The talent show segment of Miss Nepal 2018 took place on Tuesday at the Russian Center for Science and Culture, Kamal Pokhari. The event saw 25 Miss Nepal hopefuls competing. Participants were expected to choose the subject and mode of their performances themselves and as such the performances ranged from dancing and singing to stand-up comedy, solo acting, and spoken word poetry.

Gopal Sundarlal Kakshyapati, chaiperson of The Hidden Treasure, noted this year’s performances for their bold subject matter that spoke to the current socio-political climate. The choice of subject had spanned the gamut as topics ranged from lighthearted personal stories to commentaries on gender-politics and violence. One performance, a solo act, even drew from current events to tell the story of a home bound medical student who tragically perishes in the US-Bangladesh plane crash.

Judges for talent show include dance director Keshav Thapa, president of Kathmandu JCI Inu Thapa, singer James Pradhan, marketing executive Uasana Gautam, and film journalist Bharat Shakya.
