The newly identified ‘Marek Yakhkha’ is spoken in Marek of Dhankuta. Pokharel shared that ‘Mugali’ language is spoken in Mugu and different from the one mentioned in the census. This new ‘Mugali’ language is a dialect of the Kirati language while ‘Mugali’ spoken in Mugu is a dialect of Tibeto-Burman language family.
Meanwhile, the team led by Pokharel has added seven alphabets in Yakhkha language spoken in Dhankuta and Sankhuwasabha districts. Pokharel said that he had determined alphabets of the language in course of developing dictionary of the language by Ram Ji Kongren 11 year ago.
These new alphabets were added after holding interactions with native speakers, where as the previous alphabets were determined to be based on a single speaker of the language.
