“The government has made a provision where the members of Dalit Commission should have master’s degree and at least seven years of work experience. This is an unfair deal. It is very hard to find a person from the Dalit community with master’s degree,” said Nepal Communist Party lawmaker Rabindra Baitha at an assembly in Janakchok, Janakpur, on Tuesday.
The Dalit leaders have demanded the provincial government to change the provision.
They have suggested that the criteria for a Dalit person to be eligible to join the commission should be bachelor’s degree and three to five years of work experience in the related field.
