Edu Con, one of the most sought after education fairs in the country, is targeted at students who want to pursue their university degree either in the domestic or international colleges and universities. With the objective to provide the right career counselling to aspiring students, the Post has been organising the annual event for the last six years.
The fair, according to the organisers, will bring together the prospective students and the education institutions that offer a range of academic choices both in Nepal and abroad. The three-day event is being organised at a time when the Central Examination Board is preparing to publish the Grade 12 exam results that will open the door for thousands of students to university education.
Addressing a press meet in the Capital on Wednesday, Assistant General Manager at Kantipur Publications Mahesh Swar said that visitors to the fair could directly interact with the representatives of universities and colleges from India, Bangladesh, Australia, China and the US in addition to those from Nepal. Along with the exhibition, personalities from different walks of lives will make presentations on various topics related to education.
Speaking on the occasion, News Editor of the Post Mukul Humagain said the fair would help the students through the tedious process of picking the right institution for higher studies by bringing together the education institutions and prospective students under one umbrella. “This is the flagship event of the Post’s that has been going on for the last six years,” he said.
Ramesh Joshi, the chair of Rise Events, the partner in Edu Con, announced that around 350 scholarships would be awarded to visiting students during the fair. Besides, visitors also stand a chance to win gift hampers.
“We have very good experience in the education fairs organised by The Kathmandu Post in the past. That has prompted us to continue this partnership,” said Suman Shrestha, head of marketing at The British College, one of the event sponsors.
