Docs seek better facility for fasting surgeon KC
Doctors involved in the treatment of Dr Govinda KC, who has been staging an indefinite hunger strike at the Jumla-based Karnali Academy of Health Sciences (KAHS) since June 30, have suggested shifting him to a better facility.Doctors involved in the treatment of Dr Govinda KC, who has been staging an indefinite hunger strike at the Jumla-based Karnali Academy of Health Sciences (KAHS) since June 30, have suggested shifting him to a better facility.
Medics at the KAHS said that a weakened Dr KC should be taken to a safer place to protect him from infections. Dr Dhiraj Gurung, who looks after the fasting senior orthopaedic surgeon, said there would be a crisis in case Dr KC needs a ventilator.
The crusader is receiving treatment at the KAHS after doctors took him to the emergency ward on Wednesday. The KAHS does not have an ICU and ventilator services required for the seriously ill.
Doctors said they were providing best possible treatment at the Academy. “Anything can happen any time as his health is worsening,” said a doctor. Dr KC complains of dizziness and muscle cramps while a drop in white blood cell count has also been reported.
Meanwhile, Dr KC has urged doctors not to give him glucose intravenously reminding them that he is in on a hunger strike.
