Fasting surgeon Govinda KC lost consciousness two times on Thursday night, according to doctors involved in his treatment.

According to them, Dr KC did not allow them to take blood samples for test. The protesting crusader has low oxygen and glucose level in his body. He is also reported to have insufficient blood circulation to the brain.

“The government does not care whether I am alive or dead. From toady onwards, I won’t take any medical treatment,” said KC, adding that he was ready to die for the welfare of 30 million Nepalis.

Meanwhile, the Chandannath Municipal Office in Jumla has requested the government to save the life of the fasting doctor. Dr KC launched his 15th hunger strike on June 30 seeking reforms in the country’s medical education sector. The municipality has demanded that the government send a team of negotiators immediately to save his life.

Dr KC has been staging his fast at the Karnali Academy of Health Sciences demanding infrastructure and human resource to facilitate the institution to run MBBS classes. He has also demanded immediate passage from Parliament of the bill to replace the Medical Education Ordinance. Besides, the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital professor has pressed the government to establish medical colleges in Doti and Udaypur districts.
