Women trafficking

Jul 29, 2018-

If not for the initiative of the Indian NGO, Nepalese authorities, including the people at the exquisite Barakhamba Road, we would have never known about 16 Nepali women locked up in bustling Munirka (“16 Nepali women rescued from Delhi”,  July 26, Page 1). Sadly as recent as a fortnight ago, the raid by the police in the dance bars yielded almost 21 Nepali women in Kenya. Despite the country being a federal democratic republic making tall promises to liberate women, there is still no respite of their ancient trade.  Either the traffickers are great marketing agents who are great manipulators or the women are unaware. We hope for the sake of our women all tiers of the government—the federal, provincial and the local level will take some successful steps so that women trafficking can be resigned to history.
