High taxes making implementation of federalism difficult, Dahal warns
Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Co-chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that implementation of federalism will be difficult if multiple taxes are imposed on people.Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Co-chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that implementation of federalism will be difficult if multiple taxes are imposed on people.
Speaking at a press meet at Bharatpur Airport in Chitwan on Saturday, Dahal called for a scientific tax system. “We have decided to adopt the federal ruling system to provide facilities to people, speed up development activities and delegate powers to the lower units,” he said.
“However, the situation has been quite different now upon hearing the grievances of business community and people. Imposing heavy taxes in the name of federal, provincial and local tax would make the implementation of federalism difficult.”
Claiming that federalism is not the ruling system that prevailed during Baise and Chaubise states before the country’s unification, Dahal said he had listened to the people’s concerns and exploring ways to address the problems. “We know the grievances and worries of the people. People had high expectations from us. The government and the party will evaluate the works,” he added.
