Teenage girl raped in Capital

A 14-year-old girl from Rukum, who worked at an eatery in Tarakeshwor Municipality Ward 11, was raped on Saturday evening.
According to police, after the girl disappeared for some time, the owner of the eatery went out looking for her. When he found a teenager with the girl in a toilet, he had informed the police.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Chiranjivi Koirala, in charge of the Metropolitan Police Circle Balaju, they held the teenager from the scene. Sajan Bohora, 17, of Rukum has been charged with rape. Police have started an investigation after the Kathmandu District Court granted five-day custody of the accused.
Superintendent of Police Ram Dutta Joshi, spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police Range Kathmandu, said medical tests had been conducted and further steps will be taken based on the report. The girl is set to be transferred to a place where she gets proper care and support.
A total of 26 rapes and 12 rape attempts were reported to the Kathmandu Metropolitan Police in the past month. (PR)
