Sep 19, 2018-
Santosh Subedi, district secretary of Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal, is in police custody on charge of carrying out anti-government activities and causing social disorder.
Rolpa police presented him at the District Administration Office on Tuesday. Preparation is on to file case against Subedi under Public Offence Act, said police.
A police source said they are investigating into Subedi’s possible involvement in an explosion that went off in the district during elections last year.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Deepak Khadka said Subedi was held for his involvement in anti-government activities.
“We will file a case against him on charge of extortion,”he added.
According to Khadka, police would also investigate about his possible involvement in detonating explosives.
Subedi is believed to be a confidant of party General Secretary Chand.
He was nabbed while attending the funeral of the party district leader Dhan Bahadur Thapa’s father.
Police have intensified the arrests on CPN leaders for their involvement in violence during the local, provincial and federal elections last year. Earlier, police had arrested CPN spokesperson Khadga Bahadur Bishwokarma from Kathmandu.
They have been investigating the cases filed against him in various districts.
This is Subedi’s second arrest. He was first arrested during the elections and was released after 28 days.
