Task force to address issues of injured fighters

The government has agreed to form a task force to find a lasting solution to the

issues being raised by former combatants.

The task force, comprising the representatives of Home Ministry, associations of injured combatants of people’s revolution and legal experts, will have to submit their report within three months of its formation.  

Following the agreement with the Home Ministry officials, six injured combatants, who had been on fast-unto-death at Maitighar Mandala since December 13, ended their agitation. Narbir Damai of Jumla; Sangrame Sarki of Gulariya; Lilachandra Kami of Bardiya; Mangal Singh Praja of Makwanpur; Man Darji of Kalikot, and

Bir Bahadur Pariyar of Tatopani Jumla were on the hunger strike.

Five representatives of the injured combatants Padam Raj Pariyar, Prem Raj Giri, Nar Bahadur Roka, Chandra Prakash BK and Parbati Pun signed a four-point deal with Joint-secretary at the Home Ministry Indu Ghimire.

The Home Ministry has agreed to release Yubaraj BK, begin the process for treatment of injured combatants and those who were referred by the Nepal Medical Board to foreign hospitals and bear all the costs of their previous treatments.
