Case filed against 10 men for attacking bride

Police presented the suspects at the District Court and filed a public offence case against them. The accused were remanded into custody for further investigation. Police Inspector Narayan Gautam said that the police would soon record their statements and proceed with the case. The recording statement has been delayed as the District Attorney is currently on leave.
Pratikchhya Samba-hamphe, 22, sustained serious head injuries when a group of about 20 local youths attacked her during her wedding. The bride, who fell unconscious in the attack, was rushed to the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan and later referred to Biratnagar. She is now receiving treatment in Biratnagar Neuro Hospital. The hospital said she is out of danger now. The bride’s brother Deuman Sambahamphe and locals Suman Khapung and Tikadevi Sambahamphe were also injured in the attack.
Search is on for other youths involved in the incident, said police.
