Jan 17, 2019-
The second edition of Connect [IN]-International Entreprene-urship Conclave is scheduled to kick off on Saturday, in Kathmandu, with an objective to connect startups, entrepreneurs and investors from Nepal and India.
The event with a theme ‘To connect the great entrepreneurial minds of Nepal and India’ will be hosted by Indian Embassy in Nepal and Clock b Business Innovations. It aims to help build market connections between startups, investors, marketers, lawyers, auditors, government officials, universities and colleges and development partners from both countries, said a press statement issued by the Indian embassy.
The conclave also aims to aid collaborative discussion and learning.
The first edition in March 2018 had brought together more than 400 Nepalis and Indian startups, entrepreneurs, investors, venture capitalists, aspiring youths, experts, high ranking Nepali and Indian government officials that provided a common platform for the exchange of innovative ideas between the entrepreneurial communities of the two countries.
This year, at Connect [IN], the young entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to connect with investors, venture capitalists and mentors; discuss with the entrepreneurial ecosystem actors; learn from the prominent entrepreneurial journeys; and network with fellow entrepreneurs from India and Nepal, it said in the press statement.
One of the core objectives of the event is to scout startups, provide them with training and mentorship in the incubation programme, and finally take the most promising startups to the finale.
After a yearlong social media campaign, outreach activities and partnerships, the organisers received hundreds of applications.
After screening their ideas, the top 21 ideas were selected for a 7 days ‘startup incubation programme’. These 21 startups went through the idea auditions and finally, six of the most promising ideas were selected for the finale to pitch their ideas in front of investors from Nepal and India.
The top 6 ideas who will be appearing in the finale are Airlift, Swadeshi Innovations, Maker Valley, Unschool, Offering Happiness, and Walkman.
Manjeev Singh Puri, ambassador of India to Nepal, will address the event.
