Community school teachers of Phatuha Bijayapur Municipality who were protesting for four days over long overdue salaries ended their protest on Sunday.
According to Ranjan Kharel, one of the agitating teachers from Dudhiawa Secondary School located in ward 10 of Phatuha Bijaypur, 350 teachers from 32 schools have not been paid since mid-July last year.
They ended the protest after an agreement with the municipality, which has promised to pay the salaries before the Holi festival, which is celebrated in Tarai on March 25.
Due to the protest, the annual examination of grades one to nine in all 32 schools which was supposed to start on Sunday, was postponed.
Following the agreement, the exams in all schools will begin on Monday, said Kharel.
