At least six people died when a jeep they were travelling in collided with a passenger bus in Lamahi Municipality, Dang along the East-West Highway on Thursday morning.
According to the police, the Scorpio jeep (Ba 12 Cha 3122) carrying wedding procession from Gitanagar, Chitwan to Shamshergunj, Banke collided with a passenger bus (Na 5 Kha 4090) heading towards Kathmandu from Mahendranagar at Rihar of Lamahi Municipality-9, killing six people including the parents of the groom.
Area Police Office, Amiliya, said the groom’s father Man Bahadur KC, 53, mother Bimala Khatri, 45, relatives Bishwanath Adhikari, 49, Prabin KC, 5, Dipak Kumar Khadka, 31 of Rapti Sonari Rural Municipality-8 in Banke district and Datta Bahadur Khatri, 78, of Kohalpur Municipality-12 died in the incident.
The police informed that 45-year-old Gita Devi Khatri and driver Yam Bahadur Magar, 21, have been seriously injured and are receiving medical treatment at Kohalpur-based health facility.
The bride and groom escaped the incident as they were travelling in another vehicle, informed police.
